Gifts for Every Marriage Milestone
Anniversaries mark a special moment in every couple’s lives. They are an annual reminder of the day they pledged to spend their lives together. Gifts for Every Marriage Milestone
Anniversaries mark a special moment in every couple’s lives. They are an annual reminder of the day they pledged to spend their lives together. As such, anniversaries are meant to be happy, to allow couples to reminisce about their wedding day and the joyous moments in their marriage thus far. However, because the main tradition of anniversaries is gift giving, this happiness is often dampened by stress.
Every year, as the special day approaches, husbands and wives begin to sweat over what sort of gift they should give their significant other to convey just how much that person means to them. To make matters worse, some anniversaries are considered more special than others. Fortunately, these come with a theme and, thus, some ready-made gift ideas.
First Anniversary
The first anniversary is traditionally known as the “paper” anniversary. This does not necessarily mean you need to give a paper gift, but it’s a great place to start for ideas. If you are buying for your wife, you may consider a gift certificate treating her to a day at the spa. For the man in your life, tickets to a sporting event may be in order.
10th Anniversary
The tenth anniversary is also known as the “tin” anniversary. There aren’t a lot of romantic gifts made out of tin, but there are many romantic gift ideas for your spouse of 10 years. Give her a diamond anniversary ring to match her wedding band. Give him a pair of stylish cufflinks or a watch. Couples may want to consider taking a vacation to a romantic inn or bed and breakfast to enjoy some quality time, relaxation and pampering.
25th Anniversary
To mark their “silver” anniversary, couples may consider renewing their wedding vows or treating each other to a second honeymoon. Create a personal gift by framing your wedding vows in a silver frame. Traditional gifts, i.e. jewelry, are also popular. Non-traditional gifts include spa treatments, golf memberships, a year’s worth of maid service and a private chef hired for the night to cook a romantic meal for two.
50th Anniversary
At this special time in your marriage, there are many gift ideas to let your spouse know how much your time together has meant to you. This is the “golden” anniversary, and you certainly can’t go wrong with an anniversary band or other jewelry. Flowers may be meaningful, especially if they haven’t been given in a while. Plan a night out for just the two of you. Either cook a romantic dinner or make reservations at a fine dining establishment. Afterwards, see a play or take in a concert.
